The two major groups engaged in the Biafra struggle, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will some day merge to take the agitation to a higher level.

MASSOB Leader Uchenna Madu disclosed this to News Express on Sunday while reacting to the alleged handover of the struggle to IPOB Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, by MASSOB Founder, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.

Madu, who spoke in a telephone interview, said that there is expectation of a merger between Uwazurike’s BIM (Biafra Independence Movement), Kanu’s IPOB and MASSOB, of which he (Madu) is presently the leader.

According to him, the three groups are pursuing one struggle, hence the inevitability of working together.

Madu, who was commenting on a statement making the rounds on social media purportedly by Uwazuruike, however said ruled out chances of merger at the moment, saying: “I don’t think IPOB will agree to a merger with BIM and I don’t think BIM will agree to a merger with IPOB now. This is because of the current face-off between Uwazurike and Nnamdi, but at the end of the day, we will resolve it.

“It’s a struggle and in such, there will be internal disagreements, quarrel but after a period of time, we will resolve it. IPOB is there, then there is BIM and also MASSOB, all fighting same cause.

“I saw the statement on social media and I think it’s a propaganda. I don’t think such write up is from Uwazurike. It’s a propaganda, a make-up of some mischief makers, people that are carrying out falsehood and not part of the struggle.”

The statement attributed to Uwazuruike reads: “I Chief Uwazurike, Using this opportunity to declare to you Dearest country men/women, that the struggle for Biafra has never been something for one man, each epoch, God raises men to avow Biafra.

“In the late 60s it was Ojukwu, in the early 2000s it was me. Now is a new epoch when the mantle has to fall into a stronger hand that will match the strength of Biafran enemies.

“NNAMDI Kanu is my son, for whatever reason a father cannot reject or abandon his son. When I saw his passion for Biafra I also knew he had a lot to contribute to this mission.

“He is not calm like me, his blood is a lot hot than any I had seen. Many things have played out between us but I am ever willing to let go for the sake of Biafra.

“Let it not be a quarrel that will prevent the coming of Biafra. My only wish is that everyone will look upon him as the face of the modern Biafran struggle and I therefore confer on him, by the power vested on me, the prime ambassador of Biafra.

“Lastly, I hereby dissolve MASSOB. Any institution of MASSOB, its earnings and management is now pledged to the indefatigable leadership of IPOB ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu with every assurance that he will deliver.

God bless you God bless Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and God bless the Sovereign state of Biafra. I Chief. Uwazurike have spoken.”

News Express reports that Kanu recently accused Uwazuruike of derailing the cause of Biafra saying that if he had been consistent, Biafra would have been actualised.
