Chadian troops operating as part of a regional coalition yesterday over-powered and drove out Boko Haram terrorists from Dikwa town, Borno State, in the north-eastern part of neighbouring Nigeria.
A Reuters report quoted a Chadian Army spokesman as disclosing this yesterday, adding that one soldier was lost in the battle.
“We have total control of the town,” Colonel Azem Bermandoua told Reuters. He added that many Boko Haram fighters had also been killed in the clashes.
A Reuters reporter on the scene said black and white Boko Haram flags still flew in a town deserted of residents after several weeks of occupation.
