Governor Obiano
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has charged the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, to take responsibility for the death of a 66-year-old COVID-19 patient rather than heaping blames on the dead.
It blamed the ugly incident on what it described as the
Lack-lusture government of the Obiano-led administration regretting that the deceased was not alive to tell his own side of the story.
A statement by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Okelo Madukaife, titled, “Anambra APC Regrets COVID-19 Death, Resurgence” read in part: “Our great party is saddened by the death of one person, arising from COVID-19 in the state. We pray God for the repose of his soul and solicit God’s comfort of the bereaved family.
“We however wish to dissuade Gov Obiano and his lacklusture government from heaping blames on the dead who can no longer defend and state his own side of the story, and take responsibility. That is leadership. That is governance.
“Are there no porous borders in Anambra State that sang where the song was border closure but the dance was importation of infections which led the state song into a second wave of the pandemic so soon, even though foretold?
“Not even the hurried erection of metal gates in some entry points, too little, too late, can assuage the feeling of carelessness which has registered in the minds of Ndi Anambra regarding the handling of this COVID-19 saga in Nnamdi Azikiwe’s home state.
“Ndi Anambra are forced to ask if they elected an ulaga masquerade that makes appearances to sing on occasions, as figuratively captured by governorship broadcasts without commensurate action in between.”
The party expressed disgust at the setting up of supposed ‘political structures’ in the guise of searching for COVID-19 cases in Anambra’s 326 wards, when infected persons can successfully travel into the State from Kano, according to the official narrative.
It prayed God for vision that will lead Anambra State to transformational and purposeful leadership in the near future
