There is palpable fear in Anambra State following the confirmation of a new case of COVID-19 in the state by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

NCDC made the confirmation on its daily update on Wednesday, May 13.

The state had in April recorded an index case, leading to the extension of a two weeks lockdown by Governor Willie Obiano.

The index case was however discharged from the Onitsha Isolation Centre two weeks later, after testing negative to Coronavirus twice. His contacts also came out negative.

It was gathered that the new case, a returnee from Kano State, has been taken to the isolation centre.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to state Governor on Youth Development and Digital Entrepreneurship, Mr Ifeanyi Aniagor, in a short WhatsApp message urged people to apply caution in dealing with anyone that comes their way.

He said: “Have you heard of the new Coronavirus case in Anambra? It’s important you..., See everyone around you as if he or she is carrying the virus and observe all recommended precautions;

“See every surface as if it is contaminated until it is disinfected in your presence; Know that no one can give you the virus but yourself via costly mistakes and unnecessary movements.”
