In line with the Imo State Government’s determination to help cushion the adverse effects of lockdown against the Coronavirus pandemic in the State, the Governor Hope Uzodimma has distributed the third phase of palliatives to all the Local Government Areas in the State.
The IMC Chairman, Ngor Okpala Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Mayor Obinna Nweke, who received the COVID-19 palliatives from the State Government on Saturday May 6, 2020 at the Local Government Council headquarters, Umuneke, expressed gratitude to the Governor Uzodimma for proactive measures to cushion the effects of lockdown geared towards combating the spread of dreaded ravaging Coronavirus in the State.
Chief Nweke while directing the distribution of the relief materials at the Local Government Council headquarters, said the third phase of COVID-19 palliatives would be targeted at reaching all the indigenes and residents in Ngor Okpala, through the Chapter Chairmen in all the various Wards in the LGA. The food items shared, as provided by the state government through Chief Nweke were rice, nodules, yam, and other essential items like toothpaste and soap.
During the distribution and sharing exercise on Monday May 11, 2020, the women leaders of the various chapters through their spokespersons appreciated the efforts of the Governor for providing food Palliatives and other relief materials to ameliorate the hardship of lockdown during this trying period. Also she expressed satisfaction with the IMC Chairman's effective leadership who ensured the palliatives reached the target consumers. The women pledged their continuous unflinching support to the Administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, and thanked Almighty God for giving Imo State a governor who has the interest of the people at heart.
The IMC Chairman, Chief Nweke, described the Governor as a licensed driver who has all it takes to move the State forward and encouraged Ngor Okpala women to be resilient during this challenging period and pray for a total freedom from COVID-19 pandemic. He assured the women of better democratic dividends after Imo overcomes the present challenges of Coronavirus.
