The Anambra State Government has outlawed the preservation of corps in mortuaries in the state.

The measure according to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwudobelu, is to help contain the spread of Coronavirus in the state.

The statement called on families across the state to make effort to bury their loved ones as soon as death occurs, saying that the burial ceremony should not involve more than 30 persons.

It also harped on the importance of wearing face mask and social distancing during the course of burial ceremonies in the state.

Recall that the state government had four weeks ago, before the total lock down banned elaborate burial ceremonies in the state.

He instructed traditional rulers of the 181 towns in the state to ensure that only ten people with protective gears are allowed in any burial ceremony, if it must hold

The statement partly reads: “The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, had directed that families across the state should bury their loved ones as soon as death occurs.

“Town Union leaders, including traditional rulers, President Generals of town Unions, Community leaders and law enforcement agencies are to ensure that the above guidelines are strictly complied and enforced.”
