Four suspects have been arraigned in a Magistrate Court sitting in Abakaliki, the state capital, for allegedly killing a 57-year-old herbalist, Mr. Justice Kenneth.
The names of the suspects are: Kelechi Ede, Ezekiel Agom, Oforbuike Nwokpuru and, Cletus Ogbonna.
The suspects allegedly commmitted the offence at Oferekpe Agbaja, in the Izzi Local Government Area, of the state, on April 13, 2020.
They were arraigned on two counts of murder and felony, on Monday.
It was gathered that the accused persons had gone to the victim’s house at about 9pm, on the day of the incident, and pretended to come to buy anti-infections drugs, but in turn, allegedly killed deceased.
Daily Independentfurther learnt that the first accused person (Ede), said to be a close family friend of the victim, allegedly stole the sum of N150,000.00 belonging to the victim.
In his confessional statement, the first accused person, Kelechi Ede said: “I committed the crime. I’m a very close friend to Kenneth’s family. I was in his house in the night of his April 10th, 2020, and I stole his N150,000.00. I told him I was going to return the money, but I went to visit my friend at Agbaja community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. (Daily Independent)
