Governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi yesterday alleged a plot by politicians in the state to impeach him.

The governor noted that the politicians had been holding meetings to perfect their strategy to remove him from office.

He made the allegation while addressing members of Ezza Ezzekuna Youth Congress, who paid him solidarity visit at Govern­ment House in Abakaliki.

“I want to bring to your notice that some politicians, who have vowed to govern this state at all costs, have been hold­ing secret meetings on how to impeach me. They said I am a bad person and that if I continue to remain in power, they will not have their way of ruling the state. All I can say is that if they sack me, I will relocate to my home,’’ he said.

The governor urged the youths not to allow the state to be taken over by those he called desperate politicians, not having the interest of the youths and the state at heart.

Elechi called on the youths to be vigilant and re­sist any attempt to use them to cause crisis in the state because it would not do the state any good.

The President of Ezza Ezekuna Youth Congress, Leonard Igboke, told the governor that the youths were at the Government House to show solidarity to his administration and urged him to be firm.
