Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Garba Shehu, has given an insight into why the party’s presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), did not visit Chibok during his campaign visit to Borno State on Monday.
A story on Buhari’s purported visit to Chibok has been trending on social media all through today but no such visit took place.
A story in the Abuja-based People’s Daily quoted Shehu as saying that even though Buhari was initially scheduled to visit Chibok town, he had to shelve it at the last minute because of the unprecedented crowd that opted to follow him Chibok.
Chibok is the Borno town where over 200 school girls were abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in April 2014.
According to Shehu, “Buhari was scheduled to visit, but the enormity of the crowd (apart from the rally and a visit to the Shehu of Borno) made everything impossible. A date for Chibok is under consideration.”
