Multiple explosions and shootings today rocked the governorship campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State in Okrika, the home Local Government of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, and former warlord, Chief Ateke Tom.

News Express learnt that the explosions by unknown persons destroyed parts of the buildings at the National School field Okrika, at whose field the rally was held.

Rivers APC, however, managed to hold the rally, which had been aborted on two previous occasions due to threat of violence.

Among those who addressed the rally were the state APC governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, and State APC Chairman, Dr. Ikanya Ibiamu, who condemned the attacks.

“With the success of the Okrika rally not minding the explosions to scare our people away from the rally ground, we have demonstrated character by uniting against the evil and darkness pervading our State,” Ikanya said.
