Hon. Chinedu Ogah, member representing Ezza South and Ikwo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, at weekend sensitised members of his constituency on coronavirus (COVID-19) and preventive measures against the pandemic.

Addressing the people in his Item Amagu, country home, Ogah urged his constituents to maintain government directives on the outbreak, wash their hands many times a day with soup, as well as avoid hand-shaking and social gatherings.

“I called to inform you that COVID-19 is real. Make sure you wash your hands.

“It is a big calamity but we believe that prevention is better. As you celebrate Easter, follow government directives, maintain social distance.

“I appeal to you people to support policies, directives and guidelines put in place by the governments at all levels to curb the spread of the virus,” Ogah told his constituents.

He commended the Federal Government for approving measures to contain the spread of the dreaded virus in Nigeria.

In a presentation, a medical team led by Mr Vincent Uwah, used the local Ikwo language to educate the people on the preventive and precautionary measures to adopt in order to stay safe from the virus.

Mr. Uwah urged the people to maintain personal and environmental hygiene. He also advised them to engage in regular hand-washing with soap under running water, maintain social distancing, avoid crowded places, wear nose masks and report to government or hospitals whenever they have fever.

Hon. Ogah used the occasion to share new tricycles and motorcycles to 50 members of his constituency to help them cushion the economic effects of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Beneficiaries of the tricycle – Sunday Iganga, Ngwuta Magritte and a widow from Ezza South who gave her name as Nwaokpuku Veronica – thanked Ogah for his benevolence and prayed God to provide another leader like hi to them.
