A political pressure group, Network for Bayelsa People’s Agenda (NBPA), has commended the courage of Bayelsans who booed Governor Seriake Dickson at the weekend during the Presidential Rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yenagoa.
The group said in a statement that the booing of Dickson at the Sampson Siasia Sports Complex is clear evidence that the people of Bayelsa have lost confidence in the leadership style of the governor.
NBPA in the statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Ibipa Oweiza, noted that all attempts by government officials to prevent the people from ventilating their views failed.
The group accused Dickson of running the state as if it is his private estate. It said that the action of the people has made a loud statement that they are not satisfied with the governor’s style of leadership.
Dickson, according to NBPA, consistently favours and empowers only his kinsfolk and in-laws in the award of juicy contracts while telling the rest of the people that there is no money in the state due to drop in federal allocation.
The group called on President Goodluck Jonathan, a son of the state, to look into the demands of the angry youths who refused to be placated despite the President’s appeals, but continued to shout “No! No!! No!!! We don’t want him; let him go!”
NBPA noted that the high-handedness and lack of human feeling of the governor could no longer be tolerated.
“We are the people who are feeling the pains of Dickson’s leadership are the in a better position to say so, and we urge President Jonathan to listen to the voice of the people,” the group stated.
