Yemmy Alade and mother, Mrs Helen Uzoma Alade
Nigeria’s multiple awards winner, Afropop singer and songwriter, Yemi Eberechi Alade may be seen as a shining star today but she sure had her rough times while growing up.
The 31 years old entertainer who is fondly referred to as Yoruba-Igbo girl by fans (Father is Ondo, mother Abia) and Geography graduate from the University of Lagos some days back revealed how her mother, Mrs Helen Uzoma Alade once sold a flight ticket to pay her school fees when she was in primary school – St Saviour British Primary School.
Currently on a trip to the United Kingdom, the “I’m looking for my Johnny” crooner posed in a snap shot in the Queen’s land and posted in the social media with the long caption:
“London is more than just a city to my family, it marks a time in our lives (20 years ago) when mum had to sell her Economy Class ticket to pay my Primary 6 school fees. Today we fly First Class. #Next stopAmsterdam.”
Thank God for the life of the self-acclaimed Mama Africa.
