Africa Cup of Nations: Prepare for WAR against Zambia, Eagles told

Haven been denied the maximum three points by Burkina Faso in the Group C first round match in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have been advised to prepare for war against defending champions Zambia tomorrow.

This advice came from Prince Isidore Oduah, erstwhile chairman, Anambra State Football Association and former board member, Nigeria Football Association (now, Nigerian Football Federation).

Oduah told News Express that the match against Burkina Faso may have exposed Nigeria’s weaknesses which the Zambians may want to capitalise on hence the need to go all out against them in the cracker billed for the Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit.

“As defending champion, Zambia will be coming for war against Nigeria with the full support of its country and will do everything within its power to humiliate Nigeria,” Oduah said.

“My advice to coach Stephen Keshi is to contain and dislodge them. It is no more news that big names don’t play football and development from the ongoing tournament revels that there are no more underdogs in African football,” Oduah added.

He said that though no team is unbeatable, Eagles’ ability to beat the Zambians will reflect the extent of the team’s preparation and hunger to win. The Zambian team, according to the dark-complexion sports veteran, will parade strong, healthy and young players who are not only thirsty for fame but also want to be seen as giant killers.

The match is scheduled for 4pm Nigerian time. All four teams in the group have a point each and tomorrow’s games (Ethiopia and Burkina Faso play an hour after the Nigeria/Zambia match) may give an idea of the two reams that would progress from the group.
