Anambra Police Commissioner tasks politicians, journalists on credible elections

Anambra State police Commissioner, Mr. Hosea Karma, has called for a violence-free, fair and credible 2015 general elections in the state.

He made the call while speaking on the preparations of the force for the polls holding next month in the state and the country at large.

Karma called on politicians and journalist to see to the success of the elections by playing by the rules and reporting objectively.

He said that the command had been training and retraining its officers as well sending them to various seminars related to effective election management.

According to him, the duty of the police force is to maintain a safe and peaceful environment during and after elections, adding that residents of the state as well as the state work force also have a role to play to ensure a successful conduct of the polls.

Karma said: “The politician should put heads together in playing the game of politics and make the state stand out and journalists should on their part discharge their duties accordingly by reporting objectively to ensure a crisis free election.

“The strategies of ensuring free, fair and credible election in 2015 are being worked out by the sister agencies and other security outfits in the state to ensure a peaceful ground for the next month’s election.”

The police boss assured that the command has enough human capacity to sustain good and peaceful environment for the elections.
