One Olubusayo Sunday has committed suicide after he had allegedly earlier beheaded his wife and only daughter in his apartment.
As explained in a statement made available to News Express by the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Command, Adejobi Olumuyiwa, the incident occurred on Wednesday at Onigbedu town in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
The PPRO said the 46-year old stabbed himself severely, after which he set himself ablaze at about 1.15 p.m. on the day.
He was said to have beheaded his wife, Oyewole Sunday, 40 and three-year-old daughter, Esther Sunday, for unknown reasons.
Adejobi said that police detectives attached to Ewekoro Divisional Headquarters had commenced investigation into the incident, while the corpse had been deposited at the General Hospital.
“The man, Mr Olubusayo, was noticed when he stabbed himself and wanted to jump into a well near his house, having set himself ablaze but was prevented and rescued by his neighbours, who later found out that he had wreaked a great havoc in his house, but he later died in the hospital,” the statement stated.
Adding, “up till this moment, no one or any member of the deceased family or neighbours could tell the police the cause of the incident, but the last statement Olubusayo made before he died, in the presence of the police detectives, suggested that there was a quarrel between him and his wife.”
