Irate youths burn President Jonathan’s campaign buses

Two buses belonging to Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation were yesterday set ablaze by irate youths in Jos, capital of Plateau State.

The buses, believed to be in transit to either Bauchi or Gombe, were set ablaze along Bauchi Road and Mango Street after all the occupants had been asked to disembark.

No reason was given for the action but it is believed to be the youths’ way of showing their displeasure over the unabated loss of lives and property in the North and the decision of Jonathan to run for another tenure despite having failed to meet the security challenges in the North.

Some of the elders who spoke on the condition of anonymity condemned the action; saying the youths have the option of rejecting the President at the poll rather than resort to arson.

When contacted, Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abu Emmanuel, said he was aware of the development but was still awaiting the report from the DPO in charge of the area before he could issue a statement.
