The outgoing Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in Borno State, Prof. Tukur Sa’ad, has said that the distribution of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in the state would take place from January 10 to 15, 2015.
Speaking Friday at the state INEC headquarters in Maiduguri, Prof. Sa’ad disclosed that the distribution exercise is, however, limited to Maiduguri Metropolitan and Jere council areas, apparently due to the security situation in the state aring from Boko Haram insurgency.
Nigerians and the international community have been expressing doubt over INEC’s readiness to hold elections in Borno and other Boko Haram-ravaged north-eastern states.
