Controversial former President Olusegun Obasanjo has announced the death of Dr Segun Osoba but he got it wrong, as the man is still very much alive.
Obasanjo announced Dr Osoba’s death in his recently released memoir, MY WATCH, but the error went unnoticed until Senator Ojudu Babafemi pointed it out this morning, saying on a Facebook post: “In his book, My Watch, Olusegun Obasanjo wrote of Dr Segun Osoba, the famous historian – ‘He died an active and sincere critic’. Dr. Segun Osoba is alive and living out his retirement hale and hearty in Ijebu Ode. OBJ you are wrong on this. Our hero is very much alive.”
The error is under the chapter, ‘Now and Then’ on page 122 of MY WATCH. Obasanjo wrote extensively on Dr Segun Osoba and Dr Bala Usman before concluding that he was dead.
Many of the things Obasanjo wrote about in the book have been disputed by the dramatis personae.
Dr. Segun Osoba (not Segun Osoba the veteran journalist and politician, who is also very much alive), retired from the University of Ife, Osun State. He is reputed as a great historian and fearless critic cum activist.
