The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed three filling stations in Kaduna over product diversion.
Head Public Affairs of DPR, Kaduna, Rabiu Bello, disclosed this in an interview during an inspection of filling stations on Tuesday.
“Last week, we sealed three filling stations for diversion and they were made to return the product diverted,” he said.
Bello said about 94 trucks of PMS have been received for Kaduna and its environs, adding: “We are currently going round all filling stations that have received the products.
“Long queues are expected because the products are gradually coming from Lagos and the refinery in Kaduna is not fully operational because of on-going maintenance work.
“As Christmas approaches, more trucks are expected and very soon, all queues in Kaduna will disappear.”
Bello warned that any station found hoarding products would be made to face the wrath of the law. He debunked the accusation of selective inspection and monitoring of filling stations by DPR.
“This allegation is not true because any station that discharges product, DPR is there to confirm that particular product. Stations found to divert its products are always sanctioned,” he said.
The Kaduna DPR spokesman advised independent marketers against diversion of bridged products and sales above pump price.
“Any irregularities by marketer will lead to sealing of that station indefinitely,” he warned.
