Group berates Wamakko for attacking Dasuki, Presidency, cautions against politicising security issues

The United Nigerians Forum (UNFO) has appealed to Nigerians not to reduce serious security issues to mere politicking.

North West Coordinator of UNFO, Mallam Musa Abdullahi, made the appeal especially in relation to the recent verbal attacks by Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko, on National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.), whom he accused of unleashing the police against members of the House of Representatives and Speaker Aminu Tambuwal.

Abdullahi noted that it would be in the best interest of all Nigerians and the North in particular to allow Dasuki concentrate on the all-important duty of working out ways to overcome insecurity situation pervading the atmosphere.

He noted with dismay in a statement at the weekend the level of an unwarranted scathing attacks by Wamakko against the Presidency and Dasuki, whom he has also threatened to sue for an alleged threatening text message.

Abdullahi challenged the governor to prove his doubters wrong by reproducing the so called text messages where he alleged NSA sent him threats for authentication.

He wondered how the governor could accuse Dasuki of being responsible for the recent fracas at the National Assembly between the men of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and some legislators.

“Wakamakko may have masked himself under the cover of immunity but he should bear in mind that the long arms of the law are gracefully stretched at the end of his tenure,” Abdullahi stated.

Continuing, the UNFO Coordinator said: “In case he has forgotten, he has multiple cases of criminal assault and human rights violation pending before the National Human Rights Commission with registration no. C/2012/029/039s/HQ. He was alleged to have physically brutalised one Abuja estate agent, Mallam Bello Usman at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, after denying him his agency fees.

“This singular deal, which should be one amongst many helped to expose Wamakko’s appetite for corruption as he was alleged to have through the Liaison Officer to Sokoto State in Abuja, Alhaji Junaid Haliru, withdrawn the sum of N350m from the coffers of Sokoto state for the payment of property that was sold for N110m.

“With insatiable greed, the governor was reportedly accused to have later converted the property purchased under Sokoto State government to self and rented it back to the state as Staff Quarters for their employees in Abuja.

“Wamakko has a similar case of assault involving Sokoto PHCN officials who were in his now infamous gustapo style unleashed physical terror for discharging their duties.”

Speaking further, Abdullahi said that it is now obvious that Wamakko is biting the finger that fed him during his times of political wilderness.

He alleged that the governor seems to have forgotten how the same Sambo Dasuki (now NSA) took him to the then Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu, to plead his case and help with his election appeal after court of Appeal in Kaduna sacked him.

According to Abdullahi, “Wamakko has soon forgotten how the same Sambo Dasuki with Sen. Umar Dahiru and the then Acting Governor of Sokoto state did mobilisation of Sokoto people to vote for him instead of Bafarawa candidates.

“Also, in his now well-known act of desperation, Wamakko beckoned on Dasuki and late Yahaya Mahmood (SAN) to assist him overturn that controversial appeal case.

“Laced with desperation, ingratitude and without iota of shame, Wamakko now claims that NSA is threatening him because he (NSA) is not defending ‘our son’. What an irony of life. This is left for Nigeria to judge who is seeking for a hatchet job.”
