A daredevil gang of suspected kidnappers on Friday night abducted the wife of the chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Osun State University (UNIOSUN) chapter, Dr. Oluseye Abiona.
The victim, Mrs. Funmilayo Abiona, was said to have closed from her shop, located at a junction leading to UNIOSUN Osogbo campus, at Oke-Baale Area, when her assailants blocked her vehicle.
A credible source informed our correspondent that the incident, which occurred at about 6.00 p.m. caused confusion in the area as many passers-by and shop owners closed to the vicinity scampered to safety.
Funmilayo was said to be driving an unregistered Lexus car in company of her two children when the suspected kidnappers, numbering about five, blocked her vehicle and whisked her away.
According to the source, who is a trader, “Funmilayo engaged the hoodlums in hot altercation and in the process slapped one of her assailants. Apparently angered by her seeming uncooperative posture, they smashed the rear wind screen of her vehicle and dragged her into their red-coloured car before driving her away, leaving behind her two children.”
Detectives from the Osun State Police Command were immediately contacted and on arrival at the scene, rescued the two children in her car while another detachment went on the trail of the hoodlums.
As of the time of filing this report, a source hinted that the suspected abductors had established contact with the familyof their victim, demanding for a N50 million ransom before she could regain her freedom.
