NSCDC tasks private guards on intelligence gathering

Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ade Abolurin, has tasked private security guards companies (PGC) in the country to be more proactive in the areas of intelligence gathering and dissemination to the corps. He gave the advice when the Kaduna State branch of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) paid a courtesy visit to the NSCDC Headquaters in Abuja.

The corps lauded the association for the efforts made by private security guards in providing insider intelligence to the corps and other security agencies. This, NSCDC said, has helped to nip in the bud cases that could affect the security of the nation. It encouraged them not to relent at all as the nation appreciates and expects more from them as the third tier of national security.

The Commandant General, who was represented by Dr. Nnamdi Nwinyi, Assistant Commandant General in charge of the PGC Department, urged ALPSPN to flush out quacks within their ranks in order to sanitise and provide proper punitive measures against quacks and defaulters.

He reassured the association of its readiness to render assistance whenever the need arises. He tasked the companies to brace up to the challenges of the 2015 general elections as they have an enormous role to play in ensuring a successful, hitch-free and violence-free elections. He disclosed that the corps has put in place modalities that could assist the security agencies to undertake effective monitoring of the election processes.

Speaking earlier, leader of the delegation, Mrs. Emilia Csaszar, said the visit was meant to sensitise and familiarise the PGC exco with its regulatory and supervisory body towards. She emphasised the need to have a cordial working relationship with the corps and other stakeholders and to upgrade and maintain a vibrant body containing companies that are licensed. T

Similarly, the Chief Executive Officer of BEN TV, Dr. Alista Soyode, and his Nigerian management team paid a courtesy call to the NSCDC Headquaters. They used the opportunity to highlight the need of good role models to guide the youths that are presently facing the prejudice and discrimination stemming from the negative stereotypical images of blacks portrayed in the media. BEN TV proposed a partnership with the corps aimed at promoting peace and patriotism in the country.

Representing Dr. Abolurin at the occasion, Deputy Commandant, Engr. S.A. Bello, appreciated the request for synergy and partnership with the corps as this recognises the efforts made in carrying out its national mandate.
