The Accord Party (AP) governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Bishop Samuel Akpan, has set his sights on the Government House and is promising not to disappoint if given the mandate during the February 2015 governorship election in the state.

Bishop Akpan emerged as the party’s candidate after receiving 650 votes to beat his only rival, Mr. Okon Iyanam, who received only 17 votes during in the primaries held in Uyo, the state capital, last Thursday.

In his acceptance speech, Bishop Akpan stated that the primaries were “open, transparent and fair,” promising that he would not disappoint his supporters.

He claimed that he did not lobby for any vote in the election, saying that he got the “total support of all the people of Akwa Ibom State to deliver the real dividends of democracy” to them from the moment he forms the next government on May 29, 2015.

Also speaking, tne state chairman of the party, Comrade Joseph Itiaba, described AP as the third largest party in the country, adding: “Come 2015, the Accord will produce the next governor in Akwa Ibom State.”
