Dare-devil armed robbers, in the early hours of Monday, invaded a vastly growing building materials depot, UBOTEX Nigeria Ltd., in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, carting away over 200 bundles of Cameroon zinc estimated at over N20 million

According to sources at the depot, the armed bandits numbering about six stormed the warehouse and forced the massive iron gate open after overpowering the security men on duty. They then tied them to a giant power generating plant after beating them to a state of coma “before commencing their unmolested operation.”

Workers at the depot said that, after destroying the warehouse’s iron door, the robbers loaded the roofing materials into a waiting Mercedez Benz 911 lorry which they came with “and zoomed off.”

Managing Director of UBOTEX Nigeria Ltd., Elder Ubong Obot, described the robbery attack as “a serious blow and severe setback to the company.”

The police at Shelter Afrik Housing Estate Police Station in Uyo, where the robbery incident was reported, said they have commenced investigation into the incident.
