Oshiomhole attacks Igbinedion

Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has launched a scathing attack on the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, over his TV station’s coverage of his government’s activities.

Speaking with a select group of journalists in a media chat in Benin City recently, Oshiomhole was irked by what he thinks is ITV’s bias in reporting the activities of his administration.

Asked whether it was true that state-of-the-art chairs that were commissioned recently at the Imaguero Secondary School in Benin City by APC presidential flag bearer, Muhammadu Buhari, were removed immediately after the former Head of State left, Oshiomhole answered in the negative. He accused ITV and other news media of not doing enough investigative reporting.

Accusing Chief Igbinedion of using his media outfit to undermine his government, Oshiomhole wondered about the legality of doing so.

The governor questioned the sincerity of ITV over airing the interview of Imaguero Primary School pupils complaining about removal of chairs, while not showing the clarifications offered by the teachers on the matter.

Oshiomhole explained that there was a mix-up in the delivery of additional chairs to the school, which occasioned the primary school pupils to complain. He said that the mix-up had since been rectified.

Oshiomhole also sought to link Chief Igbinedion to the alleged management of the state’s resources in the years preceding his administration by repeatedly pointing out that the problems of Edo State got to a head when the chief’s son Lucky Igbinedion was governor for eight years.
