The Controller of Prisons, Niger State Command, Musa Maiyaki, the Officer-in-Charge, Medium Security Prison Minna, ACP Mohammed I Bena, and all other officers on duty last Saturday, December 6, when the jail break happened have been suspended with immediate effect.
The action, according to Ope Fatinikun, National Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Prisons Service, was approved by Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, as recommended by the Controller General of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Dr. Peter E Ekpendu.
Fatinikun in astatement issued this afternoon in Abuja said that Ekpendu has meanwhile “also ordered the immediate transfer of 55 Officers and Men of the Zonal and state Headquarters Minna to Medium Security Prison Minna and Old Prison Minna to beef up security in the two Prisons.”
He disclosed that investigation into the jail break at Medium Security Prison, Minna, continues.
