Governor Obiano
The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, on Sunday accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of trying to destabilise his government.
The Governor in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C-Don Adinuba, wondered why PDP is in a hurry to kick off activities for the 2021 governorship campaign in the state even when it is still two years to come.
His words: “The next governorship election in Anambra State will take place in 2021 and the next round of general election will not hold until four years’ time. Yet, the Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDD) has started the electioneering for both the governorship and general elections.
“If the party had confined itself to development issues of the day, the people of Anambra State would not have been as alarmed as they are today.
“It has rather been igniting and stoking all kinds of fire in a state most Nigerians regard as the most peaceful, stable and the most competitive in the whole country.”
Obiano, who is serving his second term in office on the umbrella of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), said he will not allow himself to be subjected to irresponsible politicking with anybody.
In his reaction, the state Chairman of PDP, Ndubusi Nwobu, urged the Governor to leave his party out of his problems, saying that he is rather haunted by his poor performance.
“The Governor should leave the PDP out of his problems. The unfulfilled promises to communities are haunting them. The crises they stoked in various communities are haunting them,” Nwobu stated.
