Cultists kill 2 in Bayelsa

Suspected cultists have killed two persons in separate attacks in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State. The attacks took place on Tuesday.

One of the attacks took place at the state’s housing estate known as Azikoro Estate while the second took place at Kpansia.

In Azikoro Estate, a resident, who craved for anonymity, said that the attack claimed the life of one person simply identified as Paulo.

His words: “Paulo is suspected to be a former cultist; he was shot dead at about 3:30 p.m. in front of his family residence in Azikoro Housing Estate.

“The suspects, who alighted from the tricycle, were well armed with cutlasses and guns; within some minutes, they shot the boy (Paulo) at close range and ran away.

“As they were going, they began shooting sporadically to scare away residents in the area.”

Confirming the incidents yesterday, the Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, said his men were working round the clock to unravel the mystery behind the killings.

“I am out of the state but our officers are working hard to unravel the mystery behind the killings as well as bring the perpetrators to book,” he said.
