Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Wednesday after defeated a hard-fighting Syli National of Guinea to become the first team to qualify for the second round of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) holding in Egypt.
The Group B game decided at Alexandria Stadium in Alexandria ended with an unreplied goal netted in the 73rd minute by predatory central defender Kenneth Omeruo, who rose high to nod home a right flank corner kick by striker Moses Simon.
The victory ensured that the Super Eagles, who got their campaign up and running with a hard fought 1-0 win over tournament debutants Burundi last weekend, have amassed the maximum six points from two matches.
The Guineans, who have so far under-performed, must now defeat Burundi in their last group game to entertain any hopes of progressing in the competition.
