Pan-African investor Aliko Dangote of Nigeria has retained his position as Africa’s richest man in the Forbes latest billionaires ranking released yesterday.
Dagote, however, went down the global ranks, slipped down to number 26 from the 23rd position he occupied since March this year – his real time net worth dropping from $25 billion to to $23.7 billion.
Other Nigerians on the billionaires list are Otunba Mike Adenuga of Globacom, fashion designer-turned oil magnet, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, and Alhaji Abdulsama Rabiu of BUA Group.
Adenuga is ranked number 310 in the world with a net worth of $4.8B, Alakija 715 with a net worth of $2.5B and Rabiu 1,314 with a net wortjh $1.3B.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates, with a net worth of $80.4B, is dislodged from the first position by Mexican telecom entrepreneur Carlos Slim Helu & family, with a net worth of $82.1B.
