The Executive Chairman of Red Carpet Advertising, a Lagos-based upwardly mobile agency, Prince Isidore Oduah, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his daughter, Mrs. Nana Nnenna Aliyu. A Master’s degree holder, Mrs. Aliyu died in a highbrow Lagos hospital after a brief illness.

A mother of two, who would have clocked 33 years on September 27. She has been described by close associates and neighbours as a kindhearted woman who believed so greatly in social work and charity.

Mrs. Aliyu was buried in a private cemetery located in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Victoria Island, Lagos. The ceremony which was preceded by a church service conducted by the Vicar, Flag Officer (Rev.) T. Agboluaje, and Assistant Vicar Warrant Officer (Rev.) E. Uwemedimoh, of St. Stephen’s Protestant Church, Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, Lagos.

Prince Oduah, a veteran sports administrator and former executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), in an emotionpladen tribute described the news of his daughter’s demise as most outrageous and mind-boggling. He disclosed that he spoke with her a day before her death, which he described as hard to bear due their closeness. “She was a daughter’s daughter,” he said. “She was an intelligent woman and humane in all its ramifications.”

Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd.), led the crème de la crème of officers and men of the Nigerian military to express condolences to the husbandof the deceased, Major General Aliyu.
