Anambra governorship: My defeat of Ngige, Nwoye, a victory for everyone —Obiano

Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has dedicated yesterday’s Supreme Court judgment which re-affirmed his election to the people of the state, saying that it is a victory for everyone.

Addressing the press at the Governor’s Lodge after the news of his victory filtered in from Abuja, Governor Obiano disclosed that the victory has strengthened his resolve to serve Ndi Anambra more diligently and selflessly.

Said he: “This victory only strengthens my resolve to serve Ndi Anambra more diligently and selflessly. It will spur me and my team to lift our game to the next level.”

Obiano noted that the judgment has once again re-affirmed his faith in the Nigerian justice system.

The governor called on his co-litigants to sheath their swords and join hands with him in building a new and better Anambra State. “The dawn of a new glory has arrived. We have a chance to build the Anambra of our dream and no man can do it alone. Once again, I call on my brothers, Senator Chris Ngige and Dr Tony Nwoye, to join hands with me and work for a better Anambra State,” he stated.

Governor Obiano also re-stated the determination of his team to work assiduously to ensure that Anambra State leapfrogs its myriad developmental challenges to assume its rightful pride of place as the Light of the Nation

Reacting to the judgment, the traditional ruler of Nawfia, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, expressed delight that the Supreme Court has reaffirmed the mandate given to the governor by the people of the state, describing it as a landmark judgment.

Also speaking, the President of Ohanaeze-Ndigbo, Kano State, Chief Chukwubuzo Azuka, hailed the judgment of the Supreme Court, noting that it has brought to an end the spate of needless litigations and unnecessary distractions.

He urged the governor not to see his challengers as enemies but opponents, advising that as the governor of the state, he should extend his hand of fellowship to them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
