The University of Ibadan has instituted a scholarship programme for the best six candidates who of the just-concluded Post-UTME examination of the institution.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Isaac Adewole announced this during a press conference held at the Senate Chambers of the institution.
He gave the names, sex and scores of the exceptionally brilliant candidates as Animashaun Oluwakayode Samuel (Male, 90 marks); Ajari Erioghene Esther (Female, 88 marks); Oteri Efuteri Deta (Male, 88 marks); Ojo Olawale Oluwadamilare (Male, 88 marks); Omitoyin Oluwaferanmi (Male, 88 marks); and Aremu Matthew Oluwadamilola (Male, 88 marks).
Prof. Adewole said he had approved that the six candidates, having scored over 80 per cent in the examination, be awarded university scholarships, subject to their full clearance by the Admissions Office and continued excellent performance at the university.
Giving the statistics of the examination, Professor Adewole said that the total number of registered candidates was 8,844, out of which 6,267 scored above 50 while 2,351 failed the examination and 226 were absent.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed that the University of Ibadan remains committed to getting the very best candidates in the country to be its students.
