Gunmen strike in Kaduna, kill Borno Deputy Police Commissioner’s driver

Unknown gunmen have killed the driver of the Borno State Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tom Chukwu.

Sources said the deceased, Corporal Sanusi Adamu Musa, was shot by four gunmen who drove in a ‘Concato’ car to his residence at Hayin Mallam Bello, a densely populated suburb of Rigasa area along Nnamdi Azikwe Way, in Kaduna, North-West Nigeria.

“They came around 9pm on Sunday to the deceased’s home and demanded to see him. When he came out of his house, they shot him three times and sped off,” one of the sources said.

Residents said they suspected that the gunmen trailed Bello from Borno.

“He served under Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, Tom Chukwu, in Borno Police Command. He usually came to Kaduna on weekends to see his immediate family members that reside at Hayin Mallam Bello,” one source said.

Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Aminu Lawal, confirmed the incident.

He also confirmed that the deceased was the driver of the DCP in Borno State who was transferred from Kaduna.

“The deceased Corporal is actually the driver of the DCP who has been with him since in Kaduna Command and was transferred alongside the DCP to Borno State,” Lawal said.

He disclosed that the police is trailing the suspects.
