A larger percentage of women have been now well educated and armed with necessary exposure which could make them contribute their quota to the development of a state, if given the opportunity.
Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, wife of the Oyo State Governor, made this statement, while declaring open a two-day workshop for women in Oyo State, with the theme ‘The total woman: Issues in Leadership and Lifestyle’, organised by the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs, in collaboration with PEDARA Corporate Services Limited.
She stated further that the involvement of women in politics and governance cannot be over-emphasised, given the percentage of women in the population as well as the nature of women.
“Women by nature, were emotional as well as understood another’s feelings and, as such, were able to identify with the needs and aspirations of different people in the society, adding that women were better at gathering information and planning,” she explained.
Mrs. Ajimobi stated that that with adequate information and well-thought out plans, effective and efficient implementation of beneficial plans and programmes, the society is guaranteed with women participation in governance.
