The Government of Imo State has announced the death of the Transition Committee Chairman of Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, Chief (Mrs.) Chioma Ogoke. “She died of heart attack,” Sam Onwuemeodo, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Rochas Okorocha said this morning while announcing the death of Mrs. Ogoke, who served as Commissioner of Commerce and Industry at the inception of the Okorocha administration in 2011.
Informed sources said Mrs. Ogoke, who was the Imo State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) slumped yesterday afternoon while visiting a serving commissioner in the state in Owerri. All efforts to revive her were fruitless.
Okorocha in a statement issued in Owerri by Onwuemeodo described Mrs. Ogoke’s death as “unbelievable and to large extent shocking, because the death of the woman had come when her services to both God and the people of the state would have been highly needed.”
