Senate during plenary
The Senate on Wednesday breached its law and convened plenary session despite the inability to form a quorum.
In the chamber on Wednesday, 17 lawmakers were only present.
Meanwhile, according to the standing rules, section 54 (1), the senate must have one-third of the 109 members (that is 37 members) for it to convene a sitting.
Recall that the red chamber adjourned plenary because of the cited reason.
But today, they went ahead despite the low attendance of other colleagues even when an unidentified senator shouted that they were yet to reach the required number.
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki went ahead and asked that the Senate leader read out the activities for the day on the order paper.
