Nigeria’s apex bank has advised the public not to be deceived by fraudsters purporting to be conducting a General Recruitment Exercise on its behalf. “CBN not conducting any General Recruitment Exercise,” a message posted yesterday on the Bank’s official website said.
The statement explained as follows: “It has come to the attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria that there is a job advert circulating in the social media informing the public that the Bank is conducting its 2014 General Recruitment Exercise.
“Reports from some quarters also stated that applicants are asked to pay a fee to be shortlisted for the recruitment exercise.
“The General Public should note that the Central Bank of Nigeria is not currently conducting any General Recruitment Exercise and does not receive money directly or through any representative on its behalf for the purpose of job recruitment.
“The General Public is therefore advised to disregard any such message(s) received, as they are false and if anyone approaches you in this regard and demands financial inducement, kindly report to the Nigeria Police or the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accordingly.”
