EFCC didn’t bar Pinnick from traveling out — Group

NFF President, Pinnick Amaju

President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Mr. Pinnick Amaju, has not been placed on the list of Nigerians barred from traveling out of the country on the request of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to the Sports for Progress Inc.

Coordinator of the group, Comrade Mustapha Zailani, who claimed to be speaking on behalf of Mr. Pinnick, insisted on Saturday evening that there was no truth in what has been making the rounds as regards the travel ban on the NFF President.

According to Zailani, “Contrary to widely speculative news going round that Amaju Pinnick has been placed on travel ban, we can authoritatively reveal that there is no iota of truth but a fabricated fable pedaled by mischief-makers.

“Sources at the Economic and Financial Crime Commission disclosed that nowhere has the commission placed a ban on the embattled president of the Nigerian Football Federation.

“Even though there is an ongoing probe on certain financial dealings in the federation, there hasn’t been any proven indictment to the extent of a travel ban on anyone. As we speak, Mr Amaju is even on his way to Senegal for the CAF African Footballer of the Year Awards.

“A situation where newsmen report what is not true is not only unfair to fairness and natural justice but a grave annihilation of media ethics and professionalism. Nowhere has the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission given a travel ban on the president of the Nigerian Football Association.”
