Impeached Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, is being hunted by security operatives over allegations of money laundering, theft, abuse of office and treason.
Security operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the State Security Services (SSS) and the Nigeria Police, told Nigerian Pilot yesterday that they were monitoring Nyako’s movements, particularly in his state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
An EFCC source said Nyako, who was impeached on Tuesday, has a series of petitions hanging on him. Others being monitored by the EFCC are his son, Abdulazeez Nyako, a zonal manager with a new generation bank, and some top government officials under his administration.
He said they would be made to account for N43 billion they looted from the treasury.
It was further learnt that Nyako will also face the SSS over allegations of treason and other crimes.
Prior to his removal, the Federal Government, through Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, hinted of moves to file a six-count charge of treason against Nyako over the letter he wrote to the northern governors accusing President Jonathan and his administration of genocide.
