APCON relocates 3 zonal offices

The Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) has acquired new offices in Abuja, Enugu and Onitsha to which it has relocated its operations in the said areas.

“The relocation is in line with efforts to reposition the Council for better and more accessible service delivery as well as to optimise its potentials towards achieving goal-oriented results,” an APCON statement made available to News Express said.

The new Onitsha office, which serves Anambra and Imo states, is located at No. 87, Upper New Market Road, Onitsha, Anambra State. The new Enugu office is located at No. 3A, Ezikwo Street, Independence Layout, Enugu, and serves Enugu and Ebony states. The Abuja Zonal Office relocates from No. 26 Ajose Adeogun Street, Utako, to Plot 467, Joseph Adetoro Street, also in Utako.

In another development, the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has solicited APCON’s support in upgrading the skills of its marketing staff, so as to sustain the status of the station as the best broadcast organisation in Africa.

FRCN Director of Marketing, Mrs. Vera Oshokoya, made the appeal during a recent courtesy visit on APCON in Lagos. She used the opportunity to introduce the staff of FRCN marketing directorate. Mrs. Oshokoya pledged her team’s commitment to upholding the professional ethics of advertising and complying with the regulations on registration as practitioners and pre-exposure approval of advertisements.

Responding, APCON Registrar/CEO, Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi, urged employers to motivate and empower their staff as this would make them more productive and disciplined in their duties. He further stated that the success of any organisation in the present business environment depends on its focus on training and development of its workforce as this will enable them acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude needed to operate efficiently and effectively in the ever-changing environment.

The Registrar/CEO urged marketers to effectively promote the standards and ethics of the profession in order not to tarnish the image of their organisations.
