Unknown gunmen have abducted Hon. Golden Chioma, Chairman, Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, in the state capital, Port Harcourt.

Confirming the development, Spokesman of the Police Command in Rivers, DSP Muhammad Ahmad, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt that investigation into the abduction was ongoing.

“Our detectives from anti-kidnap unit and State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) are on top of the incident to ensure that the legislator is freed unharmed,” Ahmad said.

He explained that Chioma was kidnapped yesterday in Diobu Area of Port Harcourt and taken to an unknown destination.

The lawmaker is a member of the ruling party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and representing Etche Constituency in the state assembly.
