Boko Haram bombs Maiduguri market

Suspected Islamist insurgents have successfully bombed the popular Monday Market in the Borno State capital, Maiduguri.

A RayPower FM report monitored in Lagos late this morning said many people were at the market at the time it was attacked.

“The casualty figure is yet unknown,” RayPower said.

Borno is the headquarters of Boko Haram, which has held large swathes of Nigeria’s North by the jugular since it went violent in 2009.

The group incurred global anger on April 14 when it abducted about 300 students at Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok. Some of the girls escaped while the majority remain in the firm grip of the terrorists.
