Tsunami at University of Ibadan as Senate withdraws 78 students for poor academic performance

The Senate of the University of Ibadan has approved that 78 students of the school be

withdrawn from the institution, largely owing to poor academic performance.

The information is contained in the bulletin issued by the institution’s Directorate of Public Communications.

It disclosed that the affected students were drawn from 13 faculties, for failure to obtain the expected minimum academic requirements at the end of the 2012/2013 session.

The breakdown of the withdrawn students showed that six of them gained admission into the university through the Direct Entry (DE) mode, 66 through University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) while six got into the university through UME.

The bulletin, signed by the Registrar of the institution, Olujimi Olukoya, said: “The premier university would continue to uphold the highest standards which the school had been known for.”
