It has been praise galore for Governor Willie Obiano as he marks 100 days in the saddle in Anambra State, having taken over from erstwhile governor Peter Obi on March 17.
One of those who have showered encomiums on Obiano is the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Nnamdi Meka, who commended the developmental strides of the new administration, especially in the areas of security and agriculture.
Making the commendation yesterday in Awka, Meka described as visionary, Governor Obiano’s strategy to boost agriculture as a way of creating jobs and raising revenue for the state.
Meka called on all agriculture-loving people to return to the profession as there exists in it lots of opportunities for better living.
Lending his voice, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) governorship candidate in the November 16, 2013 election, said that Chief Obiano has achieved a remarkable height in his 100 days in the area of security.
He stressed that the drastic reduction of criminal activities in the state had added to the influx of genuine businessmen, thereby boosting the economy of the state.
Ezeemo pointed out that before the action of the governor on security, that business people dreaded the state and took their businesses elsewhere, avoiding the famed commercial town of Onitsha. He said that the touts that embarrassed businessmen in Onitsha have been cleared off the streets while various parks in the markets have been sanitised.
While hoping that the security measures continue, the PPA leader in the state said that the constitution of an agric committee by the governor to ensure that agriculture is given a pride of place would create employment for the teeming youths and also place food on the table of over a million Anambrians.
He urged the Obiano administration to maintain the tempo of development.
On his part, the state Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Chris Eluemunoh, said that Obiano had done graciously well in his 100 days in office by touching every sector with special regard to security.
He noted that his security summit was a giant step which the country had emulated, adding that it was a sign that the governor was a seasoned technocrat.
Contributing, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Noberth Obi, described Obiano’s achievements in his 100 days in office as a tip of the iceberg of what he has in stock for the state.
Mrs. Nkem Onwubugha, a civil servant with Onistha North local government, described the 100 days in office of Governor Obiano as eventful, adding that he did not act as a new person in the system but has proved his worth.
Onwubugha noted that civil servants in the state have been enjoying free transportation to and from work with the donation of buses by the governor to ease the stress of transportation, a kind gesture which according to her shows that he has human feelings.
Mrs. Obioma Onukwube from Njikoka local government said that the governor had shown that he has a good programme for the state and urged him not to relent or get distracted.
She however called on the governor to ensure the even spread of amenities across the state.
