Immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has been confirmed the 14th Emir of Kano.
Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State announced this in Kano, North-West Nigeria.
Earlier reports had indicated that Kano kingmakers had chosen Alhaji Lamido Sanusi Ado Bayero, son of late Emir Ado Bayero, as his father’s successor but, as News Express indicated, any choice made by them would be subject to ratification by the Kano State Government.
Mallam Sanusi was the tenth Governor of Nigeria’s apex bank until his five-year tenure ended last week Monday, June 2.
A highly-respected Kano Prince, he had never hidden his interest in succeeding his late uncle, Alhaji Ado Batero.
