Chelsea have sealed the long-term future of Nigerian youngster Kenneth Omeruo after agreeing a three-year contract extension with the 20-year-old.
Omeruo earned rave reviews for his displays on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough last season, and will be out to impress with Nigeria at this summer’s World Cup.
The youngster, who plays primarily at centre-back, but can also cover the right-back berth, will now stay at Stamford Bridge until 2018.
Britain’s Daily Star quoted him as saying: “I’m thrilled to sign a new contract with Chelsea and am really excited about the future.
“To play at such a fantastic club is a real honour for me and I’ll be working incredibly hard to be successful. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in England so far and can’t wait to get going.”
News Express reports that Omeruo is one of the Super Eagles stars expected to be in action tonight as Nigeria take on Scotland in London in preparation of the Brazil 2014 World Cup kicking off next month.
