TECNO partners Airtel and Qualcomm, unveils Smartphone for Nigerian youth

The trio of TECNO, Airtel Nigeria and Qualcomm have teamed up to introduce the latest range of Dual SIM 3G Android smartphone known as N3.

The phone was unveiled today in Lagos, Nigeria’s economic capital. Specially designed to excite and engage Nigerian youth, it will be retailing at an estimated price of N13,500 in the market, TECNO announced.

The trendy Dual SIM 3G Android Smartphone is bundled with an Airtel SIM and consumers who purchase the device will enjoy six months complimentary data from the leading telecoms operator. As part of the partnership, consumers will also have an opportunity to get an Airtel branded N3 and an Arsenal branded limited edition N3. Customers will start enjoying these benefits from Sunday, December 9, 2012.

Speaking during the press conference, Director of Operator Department in TECNO, Arif Chowdury said: “The youth in Africa are vibrant and constantly want to stand apart, expressing their identities. As a mobile phone company, we understand the need to constantly engage them and TECNO as a brand is committed to connecting with the African youth’s motivations and passions.”

Mr. Chowdury added that TECNO N3 is designed specifically for the young African consumer and offers a great mobile phone experience, with access key features that young people look for such as social networking, access to thousands of apps and entertainment at a good price point. “We are using the Be Yourself campaign to introduce this phone model because we feel it’s the best platform for us to connect with the youth,” he stated.

Also speaking at the event, the Chief Marketing Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Olu Akanmu, who was represented by the company’s Chief Sales Officer, Mr. Inusa Bello, said the partnership with Tecno will provide more opportunities for telecoms consumers to enjoy the best, widest and fastest 3.75G network in Nigeria, adding that Airtel is committed to enriching the lives of Nigerians.

“As the best friends network, Airtel will always explore opportunities to delight Nigerian youth as this is in line with our brand vision of becoming the most loved brand in the daily lives of Nigerians. With this partnership, N3 users will now have an amazing opportunity to enjoy the fastest 3.75G internet in all 36 states in Nigeria,” Akanmu said.

TECNO has also partnered with Qualcomm, a world leader in 3G and next generation mobile technologies to provide N3 with a powerful chipset of Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7225A, which will give consumers the best 3G smartphone experience. The dual SIM smartphone TECNO N3 runs on the high performing Android 2.3 operating system supports both 2G & 3G networks and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7225 chipset with 1GHz processing speed to allow consumers to enjoy a higher Internet speed. And, the N3 is designed with sophisticated materials, combining a large 3.5” capacitive touch screen with a high resolution of 320x480, resulting vibrant images with vivid colors and to provide the consumer with a responsive and fluid experience. It also comes with a 3.0 mega pixel camera.

Through this campaign, TECNO hopes to solidify its foothold in the African market and propel itself even further as a company committed to providing its consumers with high quality mobile phones for the best possible mobile phone experience at a good price point.
