Facts have emerged on why Super Eagles Chief Coach Stephen Keshi stuck to his guns and shut out in-form Villarreal of Spain striker Ikechukwu Uche from the Brazil 2014 World Cup camp while extending invitations to former outcast Osaze Odemwingie.

A competent source close to Keshi told News Express: “Osaze did not question the coach’s competence but Ike Uche did. He openly disagreed with Keshi’s tactics at the Africa Cup of Nations and openly questioned his competence. The players are aware of this and are no happy. The fear is that if he is recalled, especially since he has not followed Osaze’s example and apologised, the other players may not be happy and may not be passing the ball to him when fielded.”

Keshi, who released his provisional 30-man list on Tuesday, has given the players May 26 as deadline to report to the team’s London camp to start preparations for the World Cup with the friendly game with Scotland coming up two days later.
